NJ is a quirky state, you never know what you may find there. Waterloo Village is one of such unexpected places. If it would be in Pennsylvania or Connecticuit I would understand but Exit 25 on I-80?!
There are even signs on interstate, so take exit 25 and follow them. Few extra minutes and you are at Parking Lot which is open from dawn to dusk. Few extra steps and you are back in 19th Century.

It is a small restored village with few well preserved houses , well maintained shrubs and plenty of space to sit down and sip hot tea. You did grab thermos with hot liquid m right?

Village has some old channel which add even more atmosphere to entire setting.

If you like photography it is a perfect spot to find reflections and unusual angles.

It is not “dead” place, actually very far from it. Church is still active and there a interestingly looking banquet hall which is used for weddings. I would say it is actually a nice place to have a special day.

So, if you are in search of little adventure it is a nice option.
