I had a plan. A little bit crazy but still a plan. On Friday, after looking at clear skies I decided to load cameras, my windbreaker and some snacks into my backpack and went to Sai Kung. There I took a cab to High Island Reservoir East Dam, btw a driver wasn’t surprised! Right after arrival I was blown away by the sunset over High Island Reservoir.

It was a already getting dark when I arrived to Biu Tsim Kok, a viewing point right above the dam. I had a plan, it did not worked out, so I spent an entire night here. Smarter people were camping on Long Ke beach nearby.

It is hard to see clear starry skies in Hong Kong. Too much of a haze from humidity and, even if you are lucky with the weather, not much could be done about a light pollution. Nevertheless – Sai Kung Park is your best option.

The next day sunrise, when I already have arrived back to the civilization at Sai Kung, was no less spectacular then last night sunset.

At 6:30 life was already at a full swing there, small restaurants were open for breakfast. May be here in Hong Kong, 7 Eleven is not up to an awesomeness of its peers in Japan, but still its coffee is pretty good. One cup was enough to survive while a Red minibus was carrying me back to Mong Kok…
