Sharp Peak is located in the far east corner of Sai Kung East Park. It is not easy to get to. Not easy to hike there. Some people think it is the most dangerous mountain for hiking in HK and this does has some merit.
You can start from Park Tam Au and a round trip would take about 7 hours I like a different route. Starting from Sai Wan Pavilion. It is longer but more beautiful and has beaches, small eateries and places to sit down and relax. So start very very early from Sai Wan Pavilion. It will be nice, less than an hour walk to Sai Wan Village where you would find a beach with two sections.

This is a paradise to learn surfing.

Because it will be too early all cafes and eateries will be closed. So keep walking. As soon as you get to the hill top you will find this …

It is a stargazing site! Yes. You can see stars in Hong Kong and this is a less light polluted place in the entire city. Not easy to get to but worth the hike. Keep walking and you will came to Ham Tin Beach.

It is bigger and even more beautiful. So I totally understand folks who camp there.

At the back of the beach there are a couple of absolutely nice eateries where you could get some supplies, great food and beer …

Also you can see a Sharp Peak very well from here. It dominates the entire landscape. Keep walking through the village towards Tai Wan beach. Just 10-15 minutes walking and you will be there. It is simply gorgeous. I think this is the most beautiful beach in entire Hong Kong. It really can compete with best beaches in the world. Nice, big, clean. Magnificent sand. Open sea. Waves. Everything what you could desire.

At the end of the beach you will find a path up. This is where the real hike starts. Walk, claim, crawl. It is worth it.

At the end you will be rewarded with an amazing view.

After you enjoy the moment you have few choices where to go. You can go back the same way, you can walk toward Park Tam Au but I would suggest go toward Tung Wan Beach. Yes it is longer but not so steep and easy to walk down. Walking down may be easier than claiming up, but in reality it is more dangerous. It is steep and if it was rainy before it might become very dangerous, so take it easy. Walk down. Go back to Tai Wan, walk to toward Sai Wan. Do not forget to glance back. It will be an evening already and the light will be in your favor.

When you are back to Sai Wan. Step into Oriental cafe, which has a deck wtih a view, and grab some beer.
