No, I did not plan it. I did not want it. All what I was looking for was a simple 3 hours hike at Lam Tsuen with beautiful views of Shenzhen in a distance. Instead, I have gotten something else.

When I just started, I noticed some smoke and smell of fire.

As soon I as made a corner, I found a squad of firefighters. Climbing up.

In a full gear, +28C, 500m. Just this alone is impressive!

When I reached a plateau, I found another team fighting fire with everything they could.

There was also a full air support. A chopper was bringing water non-stop.

Skillfully dropping it on fire to reassure safety of ground troops.

I had a chat with one of firefighters, they were battling this fire since morning… Afterwards I crossed the line to the area where they already put down fire. I was greeted by a scorched earth.

These people are true and absolutely honest heroes. They climbed all the way up, they fought a wall of wire, stopping it from burning all trees that are on another side of the ridge, and saved telecom towers and power lines.

My deepest respect for these and all other firefighters in the world. People who come to help every time when a duty calls.
